Casablanca, May 5, 2021, Casablanca Slaughter and Meat Processing Plants just obtained the HALAL Label, a first for a public red meat processing plant in Morocco. The HALAL label awarded by IMANOR, will give the Casablanca Meat Processing Plants an internationally recognized national foundation allowing the Processing Plants’ customers to enjoy the rights of use and to assert the Halal nature of all products supplied by the Processing Plants.
The Halal Label will thus enable Casablanca Meat Processing Plants to strengthen its position in a booming Moroccan & International Halal market. A market that represents new expectations and requirements for red meat professionals and consumers in Morocco and internationally.
Casablanca Prestations was entrusted with the mission and given a mandate by the City’s council for the management and upgrading of meat processing plants. In that context, it continues to implement projects and measures that outline an innovative and integrated development logic that aims to expand markets and diversify products and services.
The Halal labeling process should also enable processing plants to take advantage of the development prospects offered by new market shares. In fact, this recognition presents a competitive advantage for processing plants in markets requiring or favoring products of Halal origin.
Also, the Halal Label aims to meet new expectations expressed by our customers (wholesale meat traders, processing companies, hotels, restaurants and fine butchers, etc.) who are increasingly showing a high demand for Halal-labeled slaughter and processing products. These will allow them to open up to export, to international catering chains and even to specific local requests.
Halal Label recognition also confirms the confidence of consumers here and elsewhere who are increasingly concerned about the sustainability and quality of consumer products, especially meat.
This certification, awarded to processing plants by the Moroccan Institute for Standardization (IMANOR), concerns slaughtering services and cutting room products. The processing plants have been subjected to the evaluation process imposed by IMANOR certifying compliance with the Moroccan standard NM08.0.800 specifying the requirements for Halal foods.
Casablanca Meat Processing Plants have been approved by ONSSA (National Food Safety Agency) since 2016 and ISO 22000 certified for the 5th consecutive year since 2017 and ISO 9001 certified for the 2nd consecutive year since 2020.
