161 million dirhams, +40% increase compared to 2014.
The Casablanca Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market, an economic establishment which belongs to the city of Casablanca and whose management and upgrading have been entrusted to Casablanca Prestations, a local development corporation, saw record-high revenues this year exceeding 161 Million dirhams, an increase of +40% compared to 2014, when the LDC took over the management of the market.
This excellent performance, never before achieved since the opening of the market in 1986, is the result of an optimal flow management, mastery of checks at the entrance, the creation of new sales areas, and also the strengthening of lighting and security. The amicable recovery of accumulated arrears was also a determining factor.
The efforts made by the various stakeholders as well as the continuous dialogue with users’ associations have enabled the development of the commercial attractiveness of the largest fruit and vegetable market in Morocco, which has seen the volume of goods increase by +300,000 tons per year over the last 4 years.
The involvement and daily dedication of its 150 municipal agents facilitated this performance without a doubt.
As a reminder, a market infrastructure upgrade program, financed to the tune of 30 million dirhams, was voted for by the Casablanca city council. Work on this program began in 2016 and was fully finalized in 2019.
