Press release
On November 1, 2015, the Casablanca City Council entrusted the LDC Casa Prestations with the management of the Casablanca Meat Processing Plants by setting 3 main objectives:
- high-level equipment approved by the ONSSA (National Food Safety Agency);
- control the health safety of this sector at the regional level and contribute to it nationwide;
- offer an attractive service in the fight against the illegal slaughter market.
1st step: Upgrading and Standardization
A major investment program has made it possible to renovate the facilities, bring production tools up to standard, modernize management and develop new spaces to better support the activity and organize it better.
The renovation of the cooling system was one of the major axes of this program with more than 30 million dirhams committed to eliminate the risk of ammonia leaks, which Casa Prestations had to face as soon as management took over. The new system is based on modern technology, eliminating ammonia, and using water glycol which does not present any danger to the health of users and residents.
2nd step: ONSSA approval
The Casablanca Meat Processing Plants have put in place all the conditions required by the ONSSA to obtain approval and ensure the reliability and efficiency of the self-monitoring systems in place. This approach makes it one of the very first meat processing plants in Morocco to guarantee the hygiene and high level of health safety of its products.
3rd step: ISO 22000 VS 2005 Certification
By obtaining the ISO 22000 certification of their procedures (international standard, relating to the safety of foodstuffs), Casablanca Meat Processing Plants are equipped with an efficient management tool for the control of the risks inherent in food safety.
Benefits for the consumer, users and the City of Casablanca
Through these two recognitions, the Casablanca slaughter and meet processing plants aim first and foremost at satisfying their users and the final consumer. Indeed, the meat from an approved and certified slaughterhouse is produced under hygienic and sanitary safety conditions in compliance with the standards due to the systems of self-control, verification, monitoring and continuous improvement of the system put in place.
- For the consumer, the meat bears an approval number certifying its quality and international health safety recognition.
- For wholesale meat traders, users of the Casablanca Processing Plants, it is an opportunity to market their products throughout Morocco as well as for export.
- For the City of Casablanca, this assurance should allow better positioning vis-à-vis the competition and a contribution to the fight against clandestine slaughter.
